GUY Portelli, a valued member of the All Wight Now team, is a renowned contemporary sculptor who will be exhibiting at the Bash.
Guy shot to prominence with his 2008 appearance on Dragons’ Den when he received offers from all four dragons. His Pop Icon exhibition at The Mall Galleries, London, consolidated his reputation. At the Bash, check out his works in progress: firstly, his IoW Festival-related handprints panel, featuring hand outlines from festival musicians dating back to 1968. Then there is his Bob Dylan cast, incorporating lyrics from the great man’s 1969 Island set list.

He has been sculpting since the age of 17 and his work features in public and corporate collections throughout Britain and the USA.
For example, his work can be seen in the Trafford Centre, Manchester and the Sienna Building, Hatton Garden, London.
In 2002 he won the Elisabeth Frink School Award and, the following year, the Scott Goodman Harris Award. He is a Fellow of the Royal Society of British Sculptors and past vice president of the Royal Society of British Artists.
Words in the wind
The shot above, taken at the Million Dollar Bash’s Island launch in May, shows Guy’s striking Bob Dylan cast in mock up, miniature form with the ethereal effect of the great songwriter’s words apparently blowing in the wind.
The words are Dylan’s lyrics from songs he included in his iconic 1969 IoW Festival headlining set.
Guy will be working on both the Dylan cast and his IoW Festival handprints panel at the Million Dollar Bash on Saturday, August 31.
